How Old are the US Vascular Surgical Society Presidents?
Objectives
We noted distinct differences between the ages of the presidents of various surgical societies. In order to help characterize the age of the present US vascular surgical societies, we queried the websites for the SVS, VESS, SCVS, EVS, WVS, SAVS, MVSS, NESVS surgical societies for the names of their presidents since their respective inceptions.
Methods
The age was determined by a search on healthgrades.com, Google, and obituaries. The year of ascendency to the presidency and the year of birth were used as identifying time points.

Conclusions
There are significant differences between the ages of the presidents of the various surgical societies with SVS and NESVS being statistically significantly older than VESS. Three out of eight of the surgical societies displayed an increase in age of the presidents over time, especially when comparing the first and last decades of each society. One of the surgical societies presidents' ages are at the outer limits of the ages permitted by the society's bylaws.
